Investigating your deep-rooted financial beliefs sets the stage for a better economic future. These money mindset journal prompts will help you to reveal your underlying attitudes about money.

First of all, what actually is a money mindset?

It’s the general beliefs and attitudes you feel about money. Sometimes these beliefs are conscious, but frequently they are not. Your money mindset influences how you make financial decisions, both on a daily and long-term basis.

Your money mindset is often fueled by “money stories”, usually rooted in childhood. Here are a few common ones:

Money doesn’t buy happiness

Money doesn’t grow on trees

I can’t afford it

It’s not polite to talk about money

I’m not good with money

Money is the root of all evil

More money more problems

Rich people are greedy and selfish

Money is meant to be spent not saved

Money is meant to be saved not spent

Maybe you recognize one of these stories immediately, but take the time to delve a little deeper.

The following money mindset journal prompts are designed to help you uncover your inner feelings about money, along with the stories you tell yourself about it.
