When I started the month of June, I apparently thought that I had entered a different dimension where perfection is possible.
I thought that I’d be able to have a unique way that I romanticized my life every single day.
30 days in a row.
Maybe I’d even do a Vlog.
Spoiler Alert: I did not enter that alternate dimension. I stayed here in the real world.
Life is good because we woke up this morning.
But, some days you just don’t have the energy to romanticize anything and that’s ok.
We can just take life as what it is sometimes.
My best looks different day to day and my life isn’t a movie.
I shouldn’t expect it to be.
I just think it’s a good exercise to try to look for the good.

Romanticizing My Life
Or attempting to live what I write!
At the beginning of the month (the 3rd to be exact) something terrible happened.
Saturn (our cat) knocked over the vase of roses over onto my open laptop.
It did not survive and of course I hadn’t bother backed up any of my graphic files.
After my initial freaking out, Ryan took me for a walk as the sun was starting to set to calm me down.
Which kinda helped, it was beautiful.
One of my last tips for romanticizing life was to document your life, so I did that.
I practiced what I preach!
Here for you I separated it into themes instead of going chronologically, because it just made more sense.
Without further ado, lets get into it.
Making Time
Sometimes I can feel almost guilty for doing things that are strictly fun instead of things that are actually productive.
Can you relate?
Well, I’ve been working on it recently and I did try to make time for the things I enjoy this month.
Specifically, playing my favorite game – Animal Crossing New Horizons.
I also rode out to the beach, or to the bay shore more accurately, with my nana.
To somewhere I frequently pass on my commute to work, but where I’ve never stopped before.
(I’m always either on the way to work or on the way home)
It’s further out of the way than I usually like to drive on my days off, but I made the time to go because I love being near the water.
Finding Wonder
Near to our home is a pretty wild area where these plants grow with giant leaves.
I’ve been wanting to cut a giant leaf for an umbrella for as long as I had seen them, but never had.
We’ve lived in the same spot for about 8 years now.
But this month was when we finally did it – because why not?
I did my best to find wonder in as many places as I could.
For me, I find that place is usually somewhere in nature.
It could be around the area we live, or along my commute to work.
I really do try to notice all the tiny magical moments that happen every day.
Celebrating
If you didn’t know, June is my birthday month!
My celebrations were very low key, but I didn’t mind.
It’s not really how you celebrate, but that you celebrate.
I also got a lot of wonderful birthday messages which I really appreciated.
As well as a ton of sweets, which I’m not sure my waist line appreciated…
Fresh Flowers
When I started the month I said my goal was to romanticize my life and live it like a fairy tale.
On the second day of the month, Ryan surprised me by coming home from the store with a dozen roses.
He said, what’s a fairy tale without roses.
So sweet.
If you’re wondering, yes – these are the same roses that got spilled onto my laptop and killed it.
We also got a surprise blooming of (wildish) rain lilies.
One day there were no flowers, the next morning they’re popping up everywhere!
This happens every year.
I’ve dug some up & tried to replant them in a pot, but they never bloomed again.. UNTIL NOW.
Fancy Food
At times I can be incredibly lazy when it comes to food.
I like it to be quick and tasty.
We all know that it’s easier to just grab something from the fridge instead of cooking something fresh.
But this month I tried to do a little better.
(Full disclosure: we did actually order in quite a bit in addition to cooking at home..)
Ryan and I made chicken chili with some peppers I cut from a plant in my garden and I made matcha for myself one day using this adorable cup that I purchased specifically for this drinking matcha.
One morning we pulled out the actual plates instead of the paper plates which we use because, well, laziness.
I got out my cute glass cups instead of the plastic ones.
We didn’t have any sliced bread to make toast so we pulled out the french bread & worked with what we had.
It wasn’t anything fancy, but we made it special.
Also
Please keep in mind that a few of the things I suggested are harder to document, I don’t really have any proof of my being present or befriending myself.
Also the point of romanticizing my life wasn’t just to write this blog post.
But, I did meditate 28/30 days in June.
I tried to live each day as it came and appreciate the little things.
Its true that when you look for the good, you find more of the good.
