Just like in Game of Thrones, winter is coming. It’s colder, darker, the days are shorter, and busier. The Balanced Winter Blueprint offers a productive yet gentle and nurturing approach to making the most of your personal winter arc.

As we get closer to the end of the year, many of us are already thinking ahead to our goals for the new year and all of the things we’re going to achieve… The best thing you can do for your future self is to start early. Build up your momentum and habits for the year ahead now and you’re already be on track.

The Winter Arc

The winter arc is a trend is all about maximizing the winter months. The idea is you that you can substantially change your life if you focus and lock in during this time. In the northern hemisphere, you might want to start this in October and enter the new year already becoming the person that you want to be. But it’s never too late, or too early, to start.

One part of the winter arc trend that I personally in is disappearing. I don’t believe that you need to disappear or to ghost everyone to accomplish your goals. Sometimes having the support of others can get you through the most challenging obstacles.

Being focus is powerful and great, but sometimes you focus too much on one thing and lose track of everything else. You don’t want to be so focused on your business that you forget about your health or social needs.

What you really want is a balanced season, and I’m here with the balanced winter blueprint for you.

Balancing Act

Balance is key because it ensures that you don’t sacrifice one area of your life in pursuit of another. It’s important not to become so absorbed in one project that you forget about your other needs and passions. You don’t just want to make progress on your goals – you also want to feel overall fulfilled.

Don’t aim for perfection and try using the two day rule instead. This simple productivity concept is about never skipping your routine or habits two days in a row.

Things happen, and sometimes we break our streak. The important thing is that you don’t allow one day off to turn into several days off. The more you put off doing the things that you know you need to do, the more difficult it will be to start again.

But by allowing yourself the grace to miss a day here and there, you can help prevent burning out.

You also don’t need to isolate yourself in order to reach your goals. While you may want to distance yourself from negative influences, having a support system can make your progress much easier.

Reach out to friends or find an online community of people working towards similar goals to help keep you motivated.

That doesn’t mean that you can be everything for everyone else though. It’s important to establish boundaries and communicate your needs. The people who truly care about you will understand that your focus in on your goals for this period of time.

Work Smart

Use the 80/20 rule. The 80/20 rule or the Pareto principle, states that 80% of our results come from 20% of our work. By focusing on the things that are going to have the largest impact when it comes to achieving your goals, you’re working smarter instead of harder.

If you’re anything like me, your to do list can get really long and filled with all sorts of tasks. Pause. Take time to really consider what you can do that’s going to make the biggest difference.

I dive deeper into the differences between such tasks in the blueprint.

Seasonal Challenges

It may require a bit of a push to work through the colder, and shorter days, but you’ll be so far ahead of everyone who just hibernated during the winter months.

I know the temperatures make it much more attractive to pull up the covers and take a nap, but one of the best ways to keep the winter blues at bay is by keeping active.

Movement will also help to warm up your stiff muscles and help boost your immune system. You can beat your winter blues and resist the urge to rot in bed while scrolling Tik Tok.

If you still find yourself seriously struggling during this season, reach out to a professional, or loved one, for help. Make sure to take advantage of whatever resources you can in this season of your life.

Laying a Foundation

By the first week of February, most people have already abandoned their new years resolutions. Not you though. By the time February arrives, you’ll already have established a strong foundation for achieving your goals by using the winter blues blueprint.

Start by setting realistic goals for things that you can actually control.

You can’t really control the numbers on the scale, all you can do is eat healthy and get movement. You can’t really control the numbers of likes you receive, all you can do is post consistently.

So instead of your goal being to reach a certain number – make your goal something you can actually control and achieve if you work hard.

Creating routines and tracking your habits can be extremely beneficial.

It’s easy to look back and think that we haven’t gone very far when really we’ve made much more progress than we thought.

Or, maybe, you thought you were showing up for your goals more than you actually were.

That’s why it’s so important to track. Having a visual representation of the work you’re putting in can be a powerful way to both stay motivated and hold yourself accountable. You can’t be upset about results you didn’t get from work you didn’t put in.

Of course, how you track your progress depends largely on what your goals are.

If your goals have to do with diet and exercise, you may want to track things like workouts, calories, and macros.

If your goals have to do with building a business, you may want to track how much time you spend working behind the scenes.

Maybe you want to become a content creator, track how many times you publish a post.

On a reading journey, you may want to track the amount of time you spent reading, or the number of pages you read.
